Film
On the 100th anniversary of Bill Monroe’s birth, the museum will premier a documentary film by Joe T. Gray that provides an intimate portrayal of Monroe as told by the Blue Grass Boys. This film includes dozens of riveting interviews with bluegrass music's iconic first and second generation performers. Donate to this project here.

Musical
The museum will premier an original musical, Young Monroe, written by Rick Miller and directed by Teresa Wills. The cast includes hundreds of area elementary school students who have worked with the museum’s education director, Randy Lanham, to compose songs for the show. They will perform onstage with professional musicians, dancers and actors. From the same creative team that brought us Lincoln in the Land of Bluegrass! We will premiere Young Monroe with a daytime performance for local schoolchildren and a nighttime Centennial Celebration performance.
"Bill Monroe was 28 years old when he first appeared at the Grand Ole Opry. The influences and inspirations that brought him to that point are portrayed in the bluegrass musical Young Monroe. It's a fascinating look at the Father of Bluegrass before he was a legend."
-Rick Miller, playwright, Young Monroe
