Cash Unchained

Take a journey back in time to the life and music of "The Man in Black" performed by Cash Unchained. The band has been national sought after while touring all over US bringing the sights and sounds of the legendary Johnny Cash.  Cash Unchained will be at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky on February 8th.

Johnny Cash may not have been the greatest singer or musical technician, but his sound was unforgettable. Steady like a train, sharp like a razor, with the perfect blend of country, rock 'n' roll, and folk music, Cash paved the way for artists of all genres for years to come. With out Johnny Cash, we wouldn't have some of the finest music we've all enjoyed over the past 6 decades. Performed by some of the finest musicians in the state of Virginia, James Tamelcoff III captures Cash's trademark baritone voice, while his band delivers the infectious, driving rhythm of the Tennessee Three.

Have you ever imagined experiencing ALL of Johnny’s iconic songs in concert just the way you remembered them? From the early days with Sam Philips at Sun Records, to the later years with Rick Rubin and American Recordings, Cash Unchained delivers a complete catalog of breath taking music from one of the greatest country artists of all time. Sierra Hull with opening act 10 String Symphony

Sierra Hull

Doors open at 5 pm, show starts at 7 pm.  Bar and concessions will be open at 5 pm, and exhibits will available for pre-show touring.  Bundle museum admission with your tickets for a discounted rate.

This is where a preternatural talent becomes a natural woman.

This is Sierra Hull’s Weighted Mind. It is nothing like what we thought it would be. It is nothing like what we’ve heard before, from anyone. It is singular and emphatic, harmonious and dissonant. It is the realization of promise, and the affirmation of individuality. It is born of difficulty and indecision, yet it rings with ease, decisiveness, and beauty.

“She plays the mandolin with a degree of refined elegance and freedom that few have achieved,” says Bela Fleck, the genre-leaping banjo master who produced Weighted Mind. “And now her vocals and songwriting have matured to the level of her virtuosity.”

Alison Krauss, who has won more Grammy awards than any female artist in history, says of Hull, “I think she’s endless. I don’t see any boundaries. Talent like hers is so rare, and I don’t think it stops. It’s round.”

10 String Symphony

“They do things with fiddles you wouldn’t expect” NPR All Songs Considered “The Newest and Most Promising Voices in Americana”

Two years after releasing Weight of the World, the sophomore recording which earned them attention from NPR: All Songs Considered, a #3 slot on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts, and took them on tour all over the US, UK and Australia, 10 String Symphony felt the desire to expand their acoustic, stripped down sound. Named for their unique instrumentation of two five string fiddles alternated with a five string banjo, 10 String Symphony is the collaboration between GRAMMY nominated fiddle player Christian Sedelmyer (The Jerry Douglas Band), and acclaimed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Baiman. Since their inception in 2012, the duo has gained the attention of NPR’s Jewly Hight, who listed them among “The Newest and Best Voices in Americana” for their unique and compelling vocal and string arrangements, which are at once traditionally informed yet completely avant garde. Their new album, “Generation Frustration”, produced by Scotland’s Kris Drever, digs even deeper into the potential for experimentation with stringed instruments while highlighting new depths in the pair’s original songwriting. Unafraid of pushing boundaries, the resulting songs are as challenging as they are beautiful.
